two examples of interview's and their techniques
Jeremey Paxman and Russell Brand interview
my fist example is Paxman having an interview with Russell brand. The interview is approximately 10 minutes and is a Tv based interview. the style of the interview is very informal, it is presented more like a discussion between two very passionate people rather then a formal interview. This is shown through the camera angles being used e.g. looking closely at Russell brands face to capture his facial expressions of looking under pressure.
Jeremy Paxman is know for his unique interview techniques of being extremely direct and blunt, getting straight to the point his interview's almost always become extremely heated as Paxman will not give his own view point but be suggestive towards the interviewee. This creates a very heated discussion as he keeps poking Russell brand to make him talk more and more so occasional Russell will contradict him self and then Paxman will pick him up on it to make the conversation more heated, in doing this making the interview much more engaging.
In The interview Paxman will use very few open and closed question's this is because he has obviously researched into Russell brand and discovered how opinionated he is meaning even if he asked a closed question Russell will have a long response meaning direct and suggestive questions are far more appropriate. This show's how it is a very good idea to research into the person you are interview so you can design your questions to get them going.
their was no comfidence building by jermery paxman this is because he is interviewing a polition who is trained to the deal with the media so she will allways try and skate around the point so you need to ask direct intesnce questions to try and get an answer out of her. their is only a few key questions because jermey knows that he wont get the answer that he wants so he repeats his key question to try and get a response and to make the woman uncomfatable and under pressure
